Becoming a mother has shaped who I am today. After the birth of my second son Parker, I struggled with postpartum depression and anxiety. It was during this time of difficulty that I noticed that there was a gap in support services available to mums beyond the 6-week postpartum period (particularly for mums who weren’t first timers).
Rather than simply being thrown into the conventional medical route and labeled as depressed, hormonal and sleep deprived, I desperately wanted to speak to someone who could understand what I was going through. To share their own stories of struggle and triumph, while gently opening my eyes to the common misbeliefs and untruths so often experienced in early motherhood.
I needed someone to help me process and move through those feelings of overwhelm, failure and guilt that stole the joy and magic from so many moments. It was only through this dark and lonely experience that I began learning about matrescence and connecting with other women who shared similar struggles.
This led me on a journey of self-discovery – to understand who I was in this new season of life, redefining my beliefs and prioritising the values that I now felt most aligned with. Through my own journey of self-development, I began to heal and view my myself through a new lens of compassion and understanding.
It is now my mission to be a shining light for women (like you) who may be struggling in early motherhood or needing guidance to navigate those transformative shifts that happen when becoming a mother.
I want you to understand that you’re not broken – you’re just moving through matrescence.
With my own lived experience of postpartum depression and anxiety, I too know what it’s like to feel lost, unsupported and unsure of yourself in motherhood. But I also know what it’s like to move through these struggles and come out the other side – thriving with renewed purpose and passion in life.
Through my 1:1 coaching support program, I’m here to hold space for your story to be told. I aim to empower you with a deep knowledge of matrescence to help you understand the changes you’re going through and become aware of any unhelpful thinking patterns or socially constructed mistruths that you’re telling yourself.
